A very special announcement
I keep pinching myself because I can't quite believe that I am about to write this. As you all know I am often a rather excitable person and I can never sit on good news, so today I am blogging with the best news I can think of...
Tuesday night Stephen and I ran away to Venice for a 24-hour adventure. I was very excited about the possibility of getting lost and discovering beauty in such a gorgeous city but Steve had a little extra surprise tucked up his sleeve (or more accurately, disguised in a WHSmith bag).
After a morning of coffee and meandering through the narrow, windy streets and canals we found ourselves looking down on the Piazza San Marco from the top of the breathtakingly, beautiful Basilica San Marco. As we took silly photos between the six-foot horses, admired the dead pigeons and were dazzled by the sun on the lagoon I turned to Steve and asked for a kiss. As he drew back and held my eyes with an intense stare and whispered?
"Marry me?"
I just smiled thinking how sweet and replied,
"You know I will"
But he smiled and said,
"Just so you know, it's now. I even brought you a present."
As he reached into his bag to produce a ring box and slowly sank to one knee, I have never felt so overwhelmed in my life.
"I love you, will you be my wife?"
Anyway, the rest is private, suffice to say, I cried (happy tears) and said yes. Stephen Harding and I are officially engaged and I really couldn't be happier. I've known I've wanted to marry him for quite a while so it's a wonderful relief to finally be able to tell all the people I love and begin to think about our life together. I hope this has brought a little smile to your day, it's brought a massive one to my life...
