Join the I strongly dislike Rupert Murdock club!

646210Our grand Oscars night plans were scuppered Friday by the realisation that Rupert Merdock is a greedy man. I was in a high state of hiper activity planning how to make my pin the tail on the Oscar game, writing my fake acceptance speach and developing my sweepstake winning predictions when disaster struck: Sky was the limit...

God on Mute

Godonmutemouththumb_1There’s something about hardback that makes a book feel special. Maybe it’s the weight in your hands, maybe it’s the high quality paper, whatever it is there is an ooo aaaaa factor to a book with spine. Yesterday Pete presented me with the one of the first hardback editions of his new book God on Mute and I have to say it’s impressive…

For all you 24-7ers

247_mugjpg_small_3The lovely Justin Blake reminded me that today is exactly seven years since we launched 24-7 Prayer by lighting a candle in a Guildford nightclub. Seven years! It's been quite a ride. In honour of such a significant occasion Charlotte, Helen and I have made the following video... Download birthday_serenade.3GP

The Band is Named!

DeloreanfrontdoorsupThe Band is finally named! Daa da da da da daaa daaaaaaaa! We are called The DeLoreans and I love it. The name was inspired by Dan Armstrong's suggestion that we should name check the Back to the Future series. Marty McFly travelled through the decades bringing rock 'n' roll to the masses and we're travelling through the decades bringing you the best tunes to shake your booty to. Mwahahahahahaaaa! We are going to take over the Covers Band universe... xc

Meet the Butlers

The_butler_familyThis morning I have to confess I was feeling quite overwhelmed by the challenge of resourcing prayer in 24-7 so God planned a little encouragement for me. That ray, nay beam, of sunshine came in the form of Patrick, Rosie, Luke, Jesse and little Johnny Butler. A fantastic family that have just returned to England after 12 years working as missionaries in Paraguay...

Don't Stop Me Now!

LyndallThe second half of this week has been just as fun and eventful as the first. After my thought provoking trip to Guildford on Tuesday I headed to London Town on Thursday to meet with Lyndall Bywater from the Salvation Army and Andrea Percy, my counterpart in 24-7 UK. Both fantastic women, both gave me lots to think about and added a few items to my ever growing to-do list...

The Sticky Gospel

Martin_scott200“What do you see God doing around the World?” I asked leaning eagerly over my Coke in a cosy little pub in Guildford yesterday. My question was addressed to the lovely Martin Scott who responded, unexpectedly, with a question of his own “Do you actually believe in the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?”

Geek out

Hp7countdownPreperations for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has begun. I found out the release date a few days after the rest of the world as it was announced during the period I like to call the winter of my disscontent aka being sick in bed and only realised there was news when Pottercast from the Leaky Cauldron released two episodes instead of their usual singular weekly offering...
