Why I might be addicted to my MacBook
Is there a MacBook's Anonomous? I'm beginning to think I might need to join it. You know they say that an addict can't get better til they want to get better, well I've reached the brink, my moment of realisation has come and I think I'm ready to ask for a helping hand...
Symptoms of my addiction include:
1. I need to know where it is at all times. I am rarely further than 20 metres from my MacBook
2. If I can't get on the internet I feel anscious
3. I find myself unconsciously stroking it
4. I have had two slightly worrying obsessive dreams in as many weeks
Dream Number 1
I'm leaving on an Alias style mission with Charlotte and decide to leave the MacBook at home as it will hamper my Nynja like stealth. As I meet said Terris at our rondezvous she's carrying her iBook. I spend the rest of the dream trying to convince Charlotte I've made a terrible mistake and we have to delay saving the world so I can go home and get my laptop, my powers are obviously hindered without it.
Dream Number 2
I arrive back at work from a week off to find Charlotte and Helen looking very worried. When I ask where my MacBook is they try to deflect me onto an inferior PC laptop. When I persist asking why I can't have my MacBook Charlotte places her hands on my shoulders and in her most compassionate tone says, "It's better you don't know". Mad dash around the house to find the fate of my dear friend follows. I find her, everything looks ok, then I open the lid and find the keyboard and hard drive have melted. Disspair.
I never knew I could feel such affection for an inanimate object :( xc
Being obsessive is all part of being alive. Frankly I don't trust people who aren't passionate about at least one thing in their lives. It's not your fault you got the short straw and got emotionally attached to a Mac. ;)

That's not at all embarrassing then, being mistaken for a bloke literally old enough to be my Dad!
My passion would be rugby by the way...

If it's a serious post then maybe you should have a sabbath from your mac, one day in seven switch it off, all day. I have stopped taking mine to bed with me, not to cuddle, just to read and so I can check my emails when I wake up.

Hmmm, I didn't take it to Greenbelt to have a break. I think rhythms of having a break are a good idea :) xc

I think God is telling you to swap your laptop for mine (ashes for beauty)
BTW my computer is out of coal.

I have had similar obsessive dreams about my iBook. (Her name is Pearl.) She is a delight.
Oh dear.
