Today I finally met the infamous Isaac and the rest of the lovely Phillips family in Frisco, Colorado. Isaac is running a 24-7 Prayer room that has run non-stop for 5 months with a group of 80 people! We had a look at it today and it's part of a mini-mall with a seedy bar diagonally opposite. It felt like such an amazing place to have a prayer room. Isaac and his parents Mike and Judy invited Charlotte, Emily and I over for Mexican and chatted with us about 24-7, their church and their heart for other nations. It was lovely to sit and chat with them... They're really committed and inspiring people...
After lunch we realised that we'd run out of time for our anticipated snowboarding lesson so the Phillips suggested cross country skiing instead. It was fantastic! We were dressed up like the Michelin man in every layer we could find and shuffled through the snow trying to scrape together a modicum of grace (Isaac competes and Mike teaches so they were very patient and encouraging).
Charlotte, as always, was pretty much a natural, and though she ate snow a fair bit she did look like she knew what she was doing. Emily threw herself into it with the gusto of a snow boarder and only fell over because she was laughing so much. I (the only member of the group to never so much as stand in skis before) proceeded cautiously, ate snow less and really enjoyed myself, (I was really slow, but I think I could pick it up with a bit more practice).
We had soooo much fun! The mountain was incredibly beautiful, skiing is great exercise and bundling each other (or white-washing to use the correct term) was hysterical. I think the Phillips might think we're crazy but I think they were entertained for the afternoon.
Tomorrow we return to Frisco and head up to Breckenridge for our first snowboarding lesson. I cannot wait! I don't feel too bruised tonight but something tells me tomorrow night may be a completely different story!
PS Hmmm just read Isaac's blog and I'm not happy. Who told him I was a stalker?
