So I managed to catch a film in America a whole three months before its release in the UK. For those who know me well you will recognise the smug satisfaction in my tone. Samie, Pete, Charlotte and I opted for Ocean's 12 and we were not disappointed (well with such a plethora of fine male actors what's not to like?)...
I thought the film was good mainly because they took more of a risk with it's cinematography. Disjointed dialog and visuals gave it a jittery, adrenaline filled pace that carried the plot. I prefer it to the first because it took a little more thought and concentration, the first felt like a smooth whiskey that's down your throat before you've tasted it. Oceans 12 gave you time to savour, consider and enjoy.
I like the ethos behind it. Every three years George Cloony's production company make an "Ocean's 11" as a cash cow they can unashamedly market and milk for all it's worth (he often asks his mates to be in them as a favour; Julia Roberts only got paid $20 for the first one...). He then plows the profit into riskier but often more inspired and original films like O Brother Where Art Thou?, Which quite frankly is fantastic...
I've heard the reviews haven't been good so I'll be interested to hear what any of you guys think about the film when you see it...
