Today I am naffed off (ok so I really typed the P word but my consience made me edit it). Today I was rudely woken by a loud and persistant knock at the door. Yesterday was a fantastic day of planning, prayer and larking about in Harpenden with the Transmission team, wonderful but tiring, so I was not happy to be jerked from my dreams by a postman who would no doubt grin smuggly at my cow patterned dressing gown...
My grumpiness left in a flash though when I spotted the package from Apple nestled under his arm. I nearly hugged the guy as I signed and snatched it from his hands. He looked a little bemused at my sudden transformation...
I bounded back upstairs, dived beneath my duvet and ripped open the parcel with the gusto of my little sister at Christmas. My heart began to sink as I opened the covering letter and read the title...
Accident, Abuse, Missuse and Missapplication
Very politely Apple said they wouldn't repair my Mini iPod for free and to charge me for repair would be the same or more than the cost of a new one. Inside the box, looking a little pathetic, was my original baby feeling cold and unwanted.
I felt a sudden surge... how can you write off something that I've loved so dearly?! Missuse! Abuse! I have cherished my precious, it has stayed with me through many a pilgrimage! When mini-discs, cd and tape walkmans have given up the ghost my mini has been faithful!
I am sad. I cannot afford to replace it so instead I am going to fight for the under-dog. So he's not perfect, so he's got a crackle and sometimes he doesn't work; yes his case bulges but I'm not sizist. I shall love and accept him flaws and all...
Now if I can just figure out why the cd drive in my iBook has decided to suddenly stop working then I might start trusting Apple again. For me, the shine is tarnishing on the reputation...xc
