I'm typing this in a Gatwick departure lounge (isn't modern technology wonderful?) and I'm awaiting my announcement for my gate. I am about to board a Ryan Air (please pray for my safety) flight to Dublin! I am excited and nervous. I haven't been back in 5 years but it is my city of birth and I should probably stand on my own two feet so I'm visiting without my parents...
This week myself and the very lovely Andy Freeman are gathering with a group of Methodist youth leaders in a retreat centre in Avoca. I'm pretty nervous about it (as per usual) but I thought I'd take the opportunity of the trip to go a day early and see my Grandfather. Grandad Jack is a legend and I haven't seen him in 5 years.
I'm excited and nervous. It's bizarre visiting family that to all intents and purposes are almost strangers, but I guess I'll never change that unless I'm willing to go and break the ice! I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll just smile when he talks football and concentrate hard to understand Aunty Anne.
I'm not sure how much I'll be online this week but I'd apreciate your prayers. Please pray that God guides me clearly at this retreat and that all the travel goes smoothly and safely. I am a little nervous about navigating Dublin buses but I shall try. Hmmm I just read this back, I really am a massive scaredy cat. I'm going to Dublin!!! I promise I'm smiling. xc
