Last night Charlotte, Bex, Smiles, Katrine and I dressed in our best denim and cowgirl boots to make our way, jovially, to the Smith & Western restaurant. Despite our grins and friendly banter it was actually a rather sad last supper marking the immenent departure of the Danish lovely Katrine...
Five cowboy hats, four amusing stories, a copious amount of meat and one belly buster desert later and we were laughing, toasting and strutting in true cowgirl (with bloated tummies) fashion. Katrine has been in England for several months now working with the Wire porject in Littlehampton. In many ways she has become the fourth member of our household (only rivaled by Charlotte) and a wonderful friend.
My lasting impression of Katrine will be one of wisdom, surprising sense of humour, intellegance, honesty, beauty and friendship. She has profoundly challenged me in her observations of our friendships and how we interact. She has made me laugh, fed me gorgeous Danish food and stimulated my faith as she's asked questions on her journey to deciding whether she could believe and follow Jesus.
Is see so much of God in her. I really am grateful for the chance to get to know her. It's been a priviledge to chat about God and listen to her thoughts and a blast dressing up in purple leopard skin licra body suits and fake tanning with a substance suspiciously resembling marmite. We send her home with our love, our friendship, our prayers and our expectation that this is only the beginning of our friendships... Well I have promised her that she can sing Amazing Grace at my Wedding. Er... Steve, no pressure :) xc
