Friday, Saturday and Sunday were my precious few days off, my lull before the storm, my oasis in the whirl wind that is Transmission. Steve devised a plan and I crushed the guilty voice telling me I should be working and threw myself into our little adventures with gusto...
It was fantastic, I had such a great weekend. Friday we finally got to Marwell Zoo after four months of promising we'll go. As we arrived the heavens opened and our fellow animal enthusiasts made for their cars to avoid the down pour. We were not so easilly shaken though and the purchase of two rather sexy plastic macks later (see pic above) and we practically had the whole place to ourselves!
There were some pretty freaky animals; duck, deer, rabbit crosses, I'm sure that they were conducting some dodgy gene splicing experiments, those animals can't be natural! My favourites were the Giraffs, they were incredible! Much larger than I expected, very majestic animals.
I got slightly freaked out at the Bats (and the spiders, and the stick insects) and a little ticked off at the Tigers who were the laziest predaters I've ever seen, but apart from that it was a fantastic four hours with plenty of classic Harding animal jokes and impressions. What more could a girl ask for?
The rest of the weekend was lots of sleep, laughter, one frustrating visit to Starbucks (Starsucks!), an enjoyable evening before live 8 and a very enjoyable trip to see War of the Worlds! (More on that tomorrow.) Sunday night after two church meetings and a lovely lunch at the Vestry a very sleepy Steve and Carla went to play on the swings at New Park. Steve spun me til I thought I was going to vomit on the Merry Go Round (those things are thrillingly leathal) and we spent the next hour looking a little green and trying not to laugh too much.
The walk home was slow and sleepy with two bodies propped in counter balance to keep us moving. I woke up yesterday feeling awake, alive and ready for my week. This was quite an occasion! It's more common that I wake up knackered wishing I had a weekend to recover from the one I just had. Thank you Steve for a fun, refreshing, romantic, adventurous, vomit enducing weekend. You really are very good to me xx
