After a week of Potter cold turkey I pounced on the half bood prince with an enthusiasm I usually reserve for Star Wars. After months of anticipation it was in my hands and I whipped through it like Mansell through Brans Hatch...
PLOT SPOILER WARNING!!!
I loved it! Quicker and easier to read than Goblet or Order the story moved at a brisk pace revealing a sixteen year old Harry, Ron and Hermionie with all the strengths and obsessions that age brings. Lots of couples, lots of snogging described in embarrassing detail and (for me) lots of silent punching the air when Harry finaly kissed Ginny! (I smugly guessed that would eventually happen after Chamber of Secrets).
STILL A PLOT SPOILER!!!
I love that this book was less about Harry and more about Voldemort and Snape! I had predicted the end but enjoyed it never the less... I lay in bed on Wednesday night crying through the last few chapters. Even though I knew deep down this was the end, I was still hoping that there would be a resurrection at the eleventh hour. The end of Dumbledore was enevitable though or esle there would be no drama or uncertainty in the seventh book. Harry (still quite flawed, and though talented, still untrained) must face his two biggest enemies alone. I love it! I can't wait... I really felt it ended too quickly, now I'm going to have to wait two more years to read the end!!! I could be dead by then!!!
NO MORE PLOT SPOILERS
After a few days rest to allow the adventure that was the Half Blood Prince to settle I ventured into the third book in the Narnia series, "The Horse and His Boy". I'm absolutely loving it (slightly more than The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe even!). I should probably finish it on my travels tonight so I'll write more when I return... xc
