I think my 24th Birthday has been my most drawn out Birthday to date. I've truly managed to milk it for all it's worth! Beginning with proxy Birthday with my Family in Kos and ending in a fabulous gig in London I've had five days of pampering, spoiling and socialising. It's good to be 24...
Mum and Dad spoilt me rotten in Kos with a mini iPod (finally I am back in the melodious world of music while walking!!!) and a gorgeous ring bought from a lovely Greek woman who designed the jewelery her husband made. We had a lovely meal in a hidden Taverna in the back streets of Kos town and competed over who had the nicest tan. Diplomatically we decided that we all had our best tans to date and left it there.
Sunday Steve's parents sang Happy Birthday to me, made me a cake and gave me a gorgeous skirt! I was really touched at the their generosity, Mike and Di are absolutely lovely and have really made me feel welcome. I'm really glad because I know it means a lot to Steve that they like me.
Monday Steve shone. He truly he earned a stack of Brithday brownie pionts with breakfast in bed (sesime sead bagels with bacon and cream cheese... hmmm), wandering round town, taking me to the cinema and out for a meal with my friends in the evening. It was great to have everyone together even if I did have to wear a white sparkly cowboy hat and share my desert with fireworks in!
Tuesday a hard core few (Stephen, Charlotte, Smiles, Lisa, Ben and Ben's lovely new Girlfriend Jo) trecked to Shepherds Bush Empire to jump up and down and shout at the top of our lungs to the fabulous sounds of The Roots. A Hip Hop Band with a great sense of fun and funk, The Roots truly delivered with some old favourites and classic old school funk tunes.
I semi girated (well - I can't get down and dirty now can I) to their energetic offering and stood slack jawed during the guitar and bass solos. I thoroughly recommend them to everyone even if Hip Hop isn't really your thing.
So I think we can safely declare me the jamiest Birthday Girl in England. Thank you to everyone who celegrated with me, left a comment or sent me an email or card. I felt very loved and I think I've made an excelling start to my 25th year. xc
