I am officially on holiday! I'm typing this after a hearty dinner, sitting in a log cabin at the foot of Ben Nevis in the Scotish Highlands. The sound of the rain on the windows is a foreshadowing of the ninety mile an hour winds forecasted for tonight. Our little hotel is so iscolated that the only sound I could hear last night was the wind in the trees...
After the last few months of travel and Transit this is a very welcome break. Myself, Stephen and Ben McItyre are up here staying with Ben's family to celebrate his birthday. It's a week of walking, reading, spending time together and absorbing the majestic countryside surrounding us.
I've not spent more than a day in Scotland before but I can understand why Pete makes such a fuss about it now. It's breathtakingly beautiful, even if it does rain for about 80% of the day. In a way the gloomy weather only adds to the Cunstable-esque vistas. It snowed today and the peaks of Ben Nevis are peppered with it's residue.
I haven't felt so relaxed or lived at such a slow pace of life in a really long time... xc
