Here's my dilemma; I've been checking a blog for the last few months and I find it utterly facinating. PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail-in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. Always creative, sometimes uplifting, often disturbing the postcards uploaded every Sunday are a glimpse into people's deepest secrets; their fears, their guilty admissions and their secret joys...
It plays right into the weakness of today's culture. A voyeuristic insight into the personal lives of people around the globe. It's facinating the kind of things people will hide from their loved ones but anonomously broadcast to the world. Very bizarre.
I do admit that I check the blog every week to see what's been sent in and I have considered sending a few secrets in myself. The creativity inspires me and there is a thrill in the exposing but I can't help feeling like it's a bit whack. There's just something strange about knowing such intimate things about strangers.
Hmmm what do you think? I've put a few of this weeks' entries in this post, click to enlarge them. Interesting or unhealthy? http://postsecret.blogspot.com/ xc
