This weekend was wonderful. Short and sweet, you can stop reading now if you're especially busy... if not let me tell you more. I flew with Mum, Dad, Lili and Adam from Luton to Dublin (a little brain fried from Transit) on Friday night. From the moment we pulled up at our surprisingly plush hotel (Dad vows to check prices more closely in future) to the sad and tired fairwell last night, the Trundle family laughed, teased, ate and visited with a plethora of relatives and friends...
Yes that's right the Trundle clan returned the city of their birth (excluding Adam who's a northerner) and embarked on a mamouth visit round Mum and Dad's family and our closest friends. It was actually a great trip down memory lane full of unexpectedadly funny moments and classic Carla clangers (I just can't be funny when I'm with my family). My highlights would definitely be...
***Seeing the doorway Mum and Dad met back in the day when everything was black and white (see pick) and the jewelery shop (now coffee bar) where Dad proposed.
***Sibling chats, as they have been forever dubbed, with Adam and Lili. Always late night, always when we're sharing a bedroom, usually ending in us laughing and revealing a little more than we intended too!
***Seeing Grandad Jack (legend), Aunty Marie (trooper), Lisa's Godfather Jim (reassuringly the same), cousin Amy (massive! when did she grow up!), Aunty Ann (a plethora of ham sandwhiches), Derrick Walton (his house is so full of chilhood memories. Lovely to catch up, really sad not to see Rita, Caroline or David), Uncle Ernest and Aunty Marion (the house looked gorgeous!) and the tart with the cart at the top of Grafton Street.
***A trip down memory lane walking down Graften Street (shopping street in the centre of Dublin) and mourning the loss of Switzers Christmas windows. Mucking around in St. Stephen's green feeding the ducks, marking the locations of historic family photos and standing aghast at the horrible new playground that replaced the one I nearly brained myself in as a young child.
