I like to try something new each time I travel, something truly indigenous to the nation I'm exploring, but I have to admit, I've dreaded the day I'd come face to face with a cooked bug.  As Pete and I sauntered out of the building today we were invited to peer into someones lunch box and admire this unique South African cuisine... curried catapillars...

Over Africa

When I last gazed out of the rear of the plane, all I saw was miles and miles of sand, dry rivers marking the landscape like veins running into the horizon.  I am a few thousand feet above Africa and wanderlust has awakened inside me.  I am on a great adventure…

A dream in my grasp...

At 3.15am tonight I am off to one of the countries on my must-visit-before-I-die list! Charlotte will be picking us up in the gangsta mobile and taking us to Heathrow begin our epic journey to South Africa! Please pray for Pete and I! I'm really excited but there's a definite feeling that this is a really significant trip and I really want to make the most of it... xc

Bloggers block unstopped

Ever get bloggers block?  For me it coincides with some intense journalling and (recently) short story writing.  It's like all my creative energy is sapped into my private thoughts and narrative impulses.  I sat at my Typepad screen yesterday and though there were many things I could blog about, I just couldn't muster the mental energy...

It's official, Steve and I are fully prepared for marriage, or at least we've finished the course that says we should be. Last night was the last evening we gathered to enjoy a scrumptious candle lit dinner and a few galsses of wine before sitting down to explore and discuss a different area of married life...

Whoever said TV rots the brain has obviously never indulged in the likes of 10 Years Younger or You Are What You Eat.  I find those programs truly traumatizing and there's nothing more motivating than a photo of a mashed up liver, or frightening statistics about aging/skin damage/the end of the world as we know it to propel you guiltily toward better habits...

Box Me

Why do we fear boxes?  What's so bad about them?  Why do some people them see them as 3D cells?  I see them more as two dimensional launch pads.  If there are surprising patterns and beautiful order in the microscopic blueprints of creation why not embrace structure as a chance to create something imaginative and cohesive?
