Today has been packed with quotes from the Bible and Books that are feeding my brain at a satisfactory rate. Here are just a few... "Be careful that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block for the weak" 1 Cor 8:9...
"In His message and person Jesus was, in effect, announcing a perpetual Jubilee in the Spirit. The social ramifications of this were profound indeed: the land was to be healed, debts were to be forgiven, those in bondage were to be set free, capital was to be redistributed..." Richard Foster, Streams of Living Water, Pg. 24
"What business is it of mine to judge those outside the Church? Are you not to judge those inside?" Paul writing his first letter to the Church in Corinth 5:12
"The life of maturity reflected in [the sermon on the mount] is governed by the maturity of love rather than the imaturity of legalism." Richard Foster, Streams of Living Water, Pg. 21
Life after Transit has been in the forefront of my mind in the last week. With last Friday heralding the end of a privileged nine months of teaching and streching I'm grateful but hoping the learning curve doesn't plato as I depend more on my motivation than course rhythm.
I'm experimenting with a rythm of Bible and prayer with Charlotte in the morning and then lunch with a book that can teach me something so I can indulge gratefully in a bit of fiction in my chill out time in the evening.
I'll be writing a little more fully on my thoughts post-Transit tomorrow but until then let me preface that entry with the following quote. It's been mulling around my mind for about a year now...
The witch doctor leaned towards the captured man and after a pause asked...
"There are two dogs fighting inside you, one is good, one is evil. Which one will win?"
The beaten man slowly raises his head, meets his eye and replies,
"Which ever one I feed."
