Before I dive into the mamouth season just past and the dawning of the New Year still to come I wanted to add a little aside. I've been musing for months now about prayer within 24-7. In a brave attempt to make Christmas more about celebrating our Saviour, Steve and I have abandoned the overly familiar nativity story in favour of going through the prophecies about Jesus birth in the Old Testement. There are so many, and there's nothing like a messianic prophecy to blow your groggy brain of a morning...

Rocking all over the World

I'm a little dissapointed that though I've made many trips abroad my global coverage is limited. I'd love to explore some of Asia and Russia before 2010. I wonder what this map would look like in 20 years time. I little more red I hope... xc create your own visited country map

Paul & Frank

I'm absolutely loving Paul McCartney's most recent album at the minute. I'm making Wardy listen to it despite his nose crunching distaste... hehehe. I was wondering how much my opinions are going to change now Steve has the ability to influence me so. I'd never have picked up this album, I wouldn't know half as many Will Ferrell quotes and I would never have put curry sauce with mince meat before he weadled his way into my heart. I'm confident though that in all the essentials I have remained myself. Naked Gun still sucks. Despite viewings of all the films I conclude there is only one truly funny gag and one beaver does not a classic make... xc

Bleary eyed bluster

I'm a little bleary today, computor screnes are unforgiving on dry and tired eyeballs. Last night's movie club turned into philosophy club with topics ranging from quantum physics to cloning to the nature of Hell. We were up til one talking non-stop, no herbal stimulants but a lot of munchies required...

Empty bed

I woke up this morning and stretched with glee. It's taken nearly two months but I'm beginning to get used to having someone sleeping next to me at night, or so I thought until I rolled over and discovered I was alone...

I'm a little blurry this morning and I'm not entirely sure I'm compus mentus. My manic weekend was filled with parties, people and pretty hens. Christmas is in the air and I could even be guilty of cheeryness before 10am this morning...

Transfixed

There is a man in my German class with eyebrows at least 5cm long. I find myself transfixed wondering if he knows how long and curly they are. There’s one particular hair that stretched out at a right angle, demanding to be noticed. I guess we don’t have the privilege of looking at ourselves side on. I wish I could leave my body for a moment to see if there are any similarly strange phenomena on me. Makes me paranoid. I should probably get back to learning my Hobbies and grammar now… xc

What are you committed to?

Tomorrow I'm trecking up the M25 to join the East2West Staff day in Staines (iiiieeee!). The theme of the day is commitment and as I'm leading it through the topic has been tickling my grey matter for the last few weeks. I have come to a thought: instant gratification is cancer to commitment. If we're focused on feeling good now, how can we make sacrifices for the ultimate rightness and happiness of the future...

Wolves, reality & the Number 19

I am in awe... My journey through The Dark Tower: The Wolves of the Calla has come to a close and I feel like the finali was blow after blow of sophisticated story telling. I feel the need to be reading this with someone just so we can marvel together at the clever use of intertextuality and how rich and expansive the story has become...
