This New Year was definitely unique, instead of tearing up the town we had a quiet evening in praying our voices would last one more day as we prepared for the Wedding of Ant and Ruth, and the mamouth worship session in their service. Steve and I were hoping to lead (provided our demonic sore throats abaited). The Wedding gave the beginning of the year an entirely different slant. Gone was the quiet introspection about the year gone and the one to come and here was the frantic activity of Wedding business...
Numerous Christmas trees bedecked with fairy lights lined the Venue and copious amounts of white and black feathers were strewn throughout the room. In fact once Steve had his flower pinned to his lapel he had the Big Three in his alergy table all present to welcome him into 2007. Miraculously his lungs coped admirably.
The day was absolutely beautiful, full of fun, children, colour, laughter and food (Helen's lemon drizzle cake is to die for). 800 people arrived to celebrate this union, it was the loudest most vibrant Wedding I have ever attended. It was an honour to be a part of it.
Ruth and Anthony are incredibly important to us. Steve and Ant meet each Wednesday morning to eat together chat about their lives and pray. Ruth and I have known each other for seven long/short years as we arrived as Arts freshers in UCC in 1999. As I wrote a letter to slip into her gift the night before her nuptuals I had tears slipping down my cheeks as I realised how much this Wedding is the answer to some long standing prayers.
Some people are just made to love someone, Ruth is one of these people and I couldn't think of anyone more deserving or honourable as Anthony to benefit from that. We wish them all happiness, blessing and hope for the future... xc
