Serendipity: the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something else entirely. Steve and I were brainstorming jobs we could do to get some extra cash when Nathan and Rees called and asked us if we wanted to join a band. Sing once a month or restarting my cleaning trade, hmmm, sing once a month or restarting my cleaning trade... the decision was simple...
Steve and I signed up lickity split and Nathan (drums), Rees (bass) and Jim (elctro Geeetar) gained a keyboard player and a singer. Yikes, I'm a singer. Trying not to panic.
There's quite a difference between singing for worship and singing in front of people! It's a covers band so it's about having fun and making everyone dance, easy peasy (nervous laugh). I am a dance floor divaso I'm gonna try singing everything that makes my feet tap from the last 5 decades...
At our first rehearsal I was right in the throws of my chest infection so sounded lovely and husky (Lilly Savage on 40 a day) but had a lot of fun shaking my thing and warbling in the style of Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Wild Cherry and Bryan Adams (oh the shame).
It was a lot of fun and I think we are going to rock but we are sadly lacking one vital ingredient: a name. We're a covers band so it needs to be fun but we're not a tribute band so we're avoiding puns. Any suggestions? xc
