This Easter was a real break form the norm as Steve and I ventured into new waters and invited both sides of our stupendous family to come and join us in Chichester, rather than high-tailing it round England. Though we lacked the slick hosting skills of our proficient mothers the weekend was a resounding success...
The Harding's arrived post-Church for a jaunt up Haknaker mill and just in time to help me peal and chop a tone of veg :) By Mid afternoon the Trundle clan rocked up and the mamouth roast dinner (Chicken & Duck, yum yum!) was underway. Rarely has our humble home been so full of laughter and conversation. It was absolutely lovely to see Dad huddled away with Uncle Roger, our Mum's nattering and our Brothers talking politics.
The dinner was cool but the desserts were even better as we gorged on Mum's Triffle and Di's Easter Nest Cake and Banna and Walnut spounge. One day I aspire to be as good as them.
The Trundle clan stayed to the bank holiday Monday and we walked West Wittering Beach playing Bowls and paddling in the English Channel. We lunched in the back garden, caught an afternoon showing of Sunshine (***1/2) and finished the day with an exsquisit curry at the Massala Gate, Chichester's best eatery.
When the frenzied Easter Egg hunt round the lounge was done there was nothing left to do but say a bloated good bye. It was nearly perfect, Dad's flattulance and the absence of my gorgeous NY dwelling little sister were definite downers. Lisa we missed you lots, it was strange having a family celebration without you. Can't wait til you're home and visting us in Chi xc
