26 Today!

Today is my 26th Birthday, it’s the last day of Soul Survivor, and I’m still working so I’m yet to feel any older. I woke this morning to a room full of balloons and a stack of lovely presents from Steve. I am thoroughly spoilt!

Slum Survivor

Lottie and I are slumming it at Soul Survivor this week, flogging clothes and telling anyone who'll listen about 24-7 and how great God is. Copious amounts of mud, many excitable teenagers and mountains of hot chocolate and whipped cream have decorated our week...

Dopplegangers

My brother Adam has an idol, Zack Efron of High School Musical and Hairsray fame. Judging by the photo on the right though, Zack may be idolising Adam in return. That's Adam's favourite outfit! There's nothing for it bro, you're gonna have to have a dance off to determine who's the Disney King! xc

Creative Writing

I need to get my creative juices flowing this morning, I have a mamouth editing task ahead of me. The Global Day of Prayer send out a ten day prayer guide in the run up to pentecost and last year yours truly spent about a week editing it to make a little more understandable for the younger generation. Yesterday, next year's manuscript arrived in my inbox and they need the edit by Friday. Only hitch is I was expecting it last week when I had a lot more time to do it. Now I need to try and complete my edit in a day and a half. All prayers greatly appreciated. Jazz, check... cup of tea, check... an alive mind, check... lets get cracking.

The DeLorean's Band

Being part of the DeLoreans Covers band has been a real hoot recently. What with sausage club accompanying rehearsals, a recent rough recording we did actually sounding cool and our brand spanking new website we can really get started on promotion. Allegories and accusations

I have always found the witch hunt of J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series a little bewildering. Well maybe witch hunt is a strong phrase. I can totally understand why parents would choose not to read them to their children, especially as the story progresses with maturity in proportion to the age of it's heros. I would not give a 12 year old Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as a little light bedtime reading. I found it traumatic and I'm 26 next week...

The Body Beautiful

I'm feeling really unfit at the moment. I have little or no muscular tone and my cardiovascular fitness is probably the lowest it's ever been. For a few years after my Dance degree I could manage a ok level of fitness with not too much effort but as the years push me further from those active days I'm amazed at how weak I've become...

Last night I finished reading For One More Day by Mitch Albom. He has a very engaging narative style and it reminded me quite strongly of his other book The Five People You Meet in Heaven, similar theme but distinct enough that my deja vu was mild...

Steve's away at Soul Survivor North this week hitting those holy chords for new SS worship leader Ben Cantalon and the lovely Tim Hughes. At first I felt sorry for him being on a rainy campsite for a week then I realised his best mates are in the band so it's almost a week away with the lads...

The Return of the mailbox

Hey everyone, I've resurfaced post break and family visit to 300+ emails and an every growing to do list. I've contacted prayer rooms in Australia, South Africa and Denmark today... I love my job. Nothing can bring me down though as the sun is shinning and it's a beautiful day :)
