This morning Steve and I got married again... well sort of. Just over a month ago the Chichester registry office called me to nervously inform me that they'd made a mistake on their certificate of our marriage. It's almost a year on and my heart was in my mouth wondering how much I care about the legality of our marriage as our vows before God are what seal the deal. Have we been living in sin???
Thankfully the registra hastened to add that because our version of the certificate is correct we are legally married (sigh), but would we mind coming to witness them rectifying the mistake. So this morning, a rather wet Chichester morning, Steve and I, looking rather more casual than on November 4th 2006, went to oversee the correcting of our record.
It was quite odd really but made me realise how little that piece of paper means in comparison to the promises we made before Lord, family and friends and the spiritual bond that holds us because of it. That may sound like sentimental coldswallop but I enjoyed it! It's not often you get to declare a second Wedding Day!
Steve decided that if we were now correctly married he wanted a second twenty minute honeymoon. So, before we launched into two very full days of work we went for a lovely peaceful Coffee and chatted about everything from the Rugby to grace.
The 9th October 2007 will forever be the day we helped the Government realise we were married :) Hmmm maybe I could get a second anniversary out of this! xc
