I've hit the ground running since getting back from my week off. I'm juggling 24-7 website content, loads of stuff for the prayer team and wrapping up the last few bits of the Feast 07 before launching into confirming venues for the Feast 08. If I think about it too long I start to get a bit nervous. There aren't enough hours in the day and I'm being super good at not working evenings which means some stuff just isn't getting done...
I am however enjoying doing web stuff again, hearing and telling stories, playing around with images and trying really hard to be good at spelling and grammar (thank the lord for my husband). I'm also enjoying my little respites of fun. This quite alluring photo of me was taken by a rather amused Lottie on our journey home from London yesterday. She wasn't quite getting my gansta stylings. Ah well she was soon distracted by the fabulous Some Kinda Wonderful our 80s entertainment as we unwound from our slightly hectic day.
On the journey up we met this lovely older woman whom we greatly enjoyed escorting to Liverpool street in exchange for hearing about her life in Africa and her experience of the British Empire. It reminded me of a conversation I'd had over a Tequilla Sunrise with Helen Monkton the night before. Helen has just returned from Burkina Faso and we were discussing the defference and honour they bestow upon their elderly. As I listened to this lovely woman talk about an incredible life she'd led I lamented how much we miss out on in our culture by valuing youth over experience and wisdom.
I thought of her again later that night (I hope she reached her destination ok) as I took a night off to clean the house. Haha, I just realised how funny that sentence is. I was a cleaner for years, mostly working for Mums with young kids and I find cleaning theraputic and relaxing. As I polish the wood work, water the plants and clean the floors I'm working out the stress and joys of the day, ordering my world in preperation for chilling out with a book or film... The only thing that coud have improved my evening would have been a nice glass of rioja xc
