“…and wonder at their strange existence.” The Vision Poem, 24-7 Prayer
If I had a time machine I would travel back to the autumn of 1999, burst into my friend’s 3am prayer slot in the first ever 24-7 Prayer Room and add a little addendum to the poem he was busily scribbling on the wall. With a big, fat, permanent Sharpie I would add an asterisk to the line quoted above and then as a footnote I would add… “Apart from their office/resource space. This will be carved in stone.”
Yes, only a few short weeks after the 24-7 UK & Int’l resource centre moved into a new office space we’ve heard that at the end of May we will need to move on again. We’ve barely finished unpacking: the Prayer Room is still in boxes, the Internet and network is finally ticking over and the Indonesian Dolls (that have gone with us to every Chichester and London location) have found their perch from which to supervise our comings and goings. It fills me with a sense of dread to think of packing it all up again, carrying it to a van and then… er… we don’t know.
So, it’s prayer time again. God, we need a new place from which we can send lovely people prayer resources, make phone calls and gather together to meet and pray. He’s never let us down in past so I have faith that we’ll have a new home. I just need a few more hot chocolates to psyche myself up for our six move in 18 months… It’s all good for my character… and my pathetic arm muscles… xc
